Harriet A. Lobbins, age 106 of Willmar and formerly of Atwater, passed away Monday evening, March 15, at Carris Health Rice Care Center in Willmar.
A celebration of life service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 1, at the First Lutheran Church of Norway Lake. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Arrangements are with Peterson Brothers Funeral Home. www.petersonbrothers.com
Harriet Alvina Lobbins was born on September 17, 1914, on a farm south of Atwater to Gilbert and Emma (Person) Dahl. She grew up in the Atwater community and graduated from Atwater High School in 1931. She attended beauty school in Minneapolis following the depression years. On March 12, 1938, Harriet was united in marriage to Walter E. Lobbins and they made their home in Willmar. In 1940, they moved to Illinois. Harriet owned and operated a beauty salon for many years out of her home. They returned to Minnesota in 1970 and made their home on Norway Lake. Following Walter’s death in 1992, Harriet moved to Atwater. Since 2011, Harriet has resided at Rice Care Center in Willmar. She was a member of First Lutheran Church of Norway Lake. Harriet enjoyed golfing and fishing in her younger years with Walter.
She is survived by one daughter-in-law, Joyce Lobbins of Monte Vista, CO.; five grandchildren and seven great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, two sons, Thomas in 2003 and James in 2012; three brothers, Albin, Edgar and Byron and five sisters, Grace, Enid, Lillie, Evelyn and Vivian.
