Hazel A. Kluegel, age 104, of New London and formerly of Lamberton, died Thursday morning, Dec. 11, at the Glen Oaks Care Center in New London.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Saturday, Dec. 13, at Our Lady of the Lakes Catholic Church in Spicer with Fr. Jeff Horejsi officiating. Interment will be at 2:30 P.M. on Saturday, Dec. 13, at the St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery in Lamberton. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday. Funeral arrangements are with the Green Lake Funeral Home in Spicer.
Hazel was born on May 25, 1904, in Iona, Minnesota, the daughter of Henry and Mary Ann (Brady) Aurit. She grew up and received her normal education in Iona and then attended Mankato State University for her teachers training. Following her graduation, Hazel moved to Lamberton where she taught first grade. On November 26, 1925, she was united in marriage to Detmer W. Kluegel. After Hazel met Detmer, he trained her in acrobatics and they performed for the next five years at regional fairs and celebrations. Hazel and Detmer owned and operated Kluegel's Furniture Store and Funeral Home in Lamberton. In 1965, they retired and moved to Green Lake in Spicer.
She is survived by her three sons, Spencer (and Ingrid) Kluegel of Idaho, Jim (and Carol) Kluegel of Spicer and George (and Ruth) Kluegel of Phoenix, AZ.; eight grandchildren and twenty great grandchildren. Also surviving is a sister-in-law, Kathryn Roth of Willmar, besides other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Detmer in 1975; one brother and five sisters.
