Hazel Petersen

Hazel O. Petersen, age 95, of Spicer died Wednesday afternoon, December 26, at Glenn Oaks Care Center in New London.

Memorial service will be held at 2 P.M. Sunday, December 30, at Faith Lutheran Church in Spicer. A time of gathering will be held 1 hour prior to the service at the church. Memorial are preferred to the Faith Lutheran Church or the Alzheimer's Association. Arrangements are with the Peterson Brothers Green Lake Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Spicer. Hazel Othelia (Wareberg) Petersen was born on April 26, 1917, in Green Lake Township, near Spicer, Minnesota, the daughter of Helga Marie (Wig) and Ole Wareberg. She grew up in that area, was baptized and confirmed at Green Lake Lutheran Church and received her education at the District 28 county school. Hazel worked in Willmar at restaurants and did housekeeping for a short time. On June 14, 1941, she was married to Floyd F. Petersen and they made their home in the Spicer area. She worked at Hultgren's Lodge for a time and then as a cashier for Orred Super Value which later became Juba's Super Value. Hazel was a member of Faith Lutheran Church and had been a member of Sons of Norway.

She is survived by 1 brother-in-law, Rial Lindsoe of McAllister, MT and 1 sister-in-law, Carol Wareberg of West Hills, California. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews, besides other relative and friends.

Hazel was preceded in death by her parents, husband (Floyd in 2000), 2 brothers; Norman and Minard Wareberg and 3 sisters; Irene Rosenquist, Ruth Birkland and Thelma Lindsoe.
