Helen Olson

Helen M. Olson, age 92, of Bloomington, formerly of the Atwater and Willmar area, died Monday afternoon, March 24th, at the Golden Living Center in Bloomington.
Services will be held at 11 A.M., Thursday, March 27th, at the Peterson Brothers Funeral Home in Willmar with Pastor James Ekbom officiating. The interment will be at a later date at the Lake Elizabeth Cemetery in rural Atwater. Friends may call one hour prior to the services at the funeral home.
Helen Marie Olson was born on November 3, 1915, on the family farm in rural Atwater, the daughter of Mary (Spur) and John Hogberg. She grew up in that area and received her education. In 1937, she married Wallace Olson and they lived in St. Paul for many years before moving back to this area. They farmed by Lake Wagonga and Helen worked as a clerk at Thrifty White Drug Store. After Wallace's death in 1975, she lived with her daughters in Minneapolis and Illinois. Helen was a loving wife, mother and she befriended many and always had a kind word for everyone.
Helen is survived by two daughters, Marlene Dick of Apple Valley and Diane (and James) Geiger of Lakeville. Also surviving are 4 grandchildren, Douglas (and Julie) Dixon of Lakeville, Paul (and Allie) Dickinson of Neillsville, Wisconsin, Jane Geiger of Lakeville and James Geiger of Lakeville, 4 great grandchildren, Emily Dixon, Joseph Dixon, Keegan Dickinson and Macey Dickinson, several nieces and nephews, besides other relatives and friends.
Helen was preceded in death by her parents, husband (Wallace in 1975) and 4 brothers ( Herbert, Phillip, Oliver, and Charles Hogberg).
