Herbert W. Schueler, 88, of Raymond, died Friday, February 19, at the St. Cloud Hospital.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Monday, February 22, at St. John's Lutheran Church in Raymond. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be 2:00 - 5:00 p.m. Sunday, February 21, at the church with a 2:00 p.m prayer service and will continue one hour prior to the service on Monday.
Herbert Walter Schueler was born September 5, 1921, in rural Raymond, to Paul and Ida (Juettner) Schueler. He grew up in the Raymond area and attended the Sunnyside School. Following his father's death, he began working on the family farm and eventually took over the daily operations. On February 8, 1952, he married Rieka B. Fruhling at St. John's Lutheran Church in Raymond. They continued to live and farm on the family farm until 1987 when they moved into Raymond. Herbert loved farming and continued to help on the farm after moving into town.
Herbert was an active member of St. John's Lutheran Church, serving on the church council and as an usher. He was also a member of the Raymond Lions Club, the Raymond Sportsmen's Club and the Fraternal Order of Eagles in Willmar. He enjoyed collecting toy International tractors.
He is survived by his wife, Rieka; three children, Lynette (and Michael) Stueckrath of Willmar, Roger (and Rebecca) Schueler of Springfield, and Jim (and Susan) Schueler of Raymond; thirteen grandchildren, Tim Stueckrath (and special friend, Kristi), Scott Stueckrath, Trent Stueckrath, Tina (and Lowell) Syverson, Sara Stueckrath, Amy Schueler, Eric Schueler, Emily Schueler, Stacey Stueckrath (and special friend, Chris), Amanda Secress, Brandiee Bode, Samantha Schueler and Dakota Schueler; five great-grandchildren, Gavin Strueckrath, Miranda Stueckrath, Talia Schueler, Mason Bode and Logan Bode; two sisters, Clara Dunlavy of Raymond and Verna Loge of Willmar; several nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers, Arthur Schueler, Erwin Schueler, Paul Schueler, Kurt Schueler, and Oscar Schueler; four sisters, Martha Schueler, Evelyn Peterson, Gertrude McLane and Emma Holtz; and a grandson, Aaron Schueler.
