Herschel Damhof, 95, of Willmar passed away on Friday at Bethesda Pleasantview in Willmar.
The service will be at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday at the Roseland Reformed Church in Roseland. Burial will be in the Roseland Reformed Cemetery. Visitation will be 4-7 P.M. Tuesday at Peterson Brothers Funeral Home in Willmar. Arrangements are with Tri-County Funeral Home in Prinsburg.
He was born on May 18, 1915, in Roseland Township, Kandiyohi County, MN, the son of William and Gertie (Roelofs) Damhof. He was born and grew up on the family farm just west of Roseland. He attended school in Roseland and was a lifelong member of the Roseland Reformed Church.
On May 20, 1952, he was united in marriage to Evelyn (Bruggers) Dykema. They lived on the family farm where they farmed for many years, and later began refinishing antique furniture. They were custodians for the Roseland Reformed Church for many years. They moved into Roseland in 1993, and later moved into Willmar in 2004.
He is survived by his wife Evelyn; children, Pat (and Jerome) Roelofs of Sanger, Texas, Ben (and Deb) Dykema of Walker, MN, Trudy (and Dave) Jones of Willmar and Todd (and Mari) Damhof of Willmar; 11 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; 2 sisters, Gertrude Ahrenholz and Lilah (Nick) Kleinhuizen of Willmar; and 2 sister-in-laws, Alice Damhof and Loreen Damhof.
Herschel was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Ralph, Louis and Gerhard; and three, sisters, Angie Hoogheem, Elizabeth Swyter, and an infant sister; a great-granddaughter Bria Dykema; and a son-in-law, Gary Fonkert.
