Doug was born on May 30th, 1957, in Exeter, New Hampshire, to Holman Hood and Regina Eleanor (Rogers) Hood and sisters Patricia, LInda, and Susan. Holman (who preferred to go by Doug) was born with many ailments and doctors did not believe he would live past the age of 8. However, he proved that he had other plans and continued to show the world just how tenacious he could be. Doug attended BBE public schools as a child and earned his GED and a degree in Insurance through Ridgewater College in his adult life.
He married Sheila Ann (Kirkpatrick) Hood on May 16, 1991, in Tacoma, Washington. They moved back to Minnesota in 1995 and settled outside of Brooten. Doug loved antiquing, enjoying a sunny day on the porch, getting into a good debate, and spending time with his family.
Doug a proud father to his children, Holman John Douglas Hood (his wife Rachel), Erika Mae (Hood) Ames (her husband Tim); and stepfather to Lisa Marie (Chappo) McCormick (her husband Daniel), and Martin Chappo (his wife Tina). He was a beloved grandfather to his grandchildren: Dylan Hood, Jordan Ames, Kaylee Ames, Duncan McCormick, and Mikiaela (McCormick) Meyer. Doug was blessed to meet his first great-granddaughter; Lainey McCormick was looking forward to the birth of a second great-granddaughter known as “Baby M.”
He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister Susan, and his niece, Wanda.
