Irene E. Isachsen, age 91, of Willmar, died Friday morning, March 31, at Rice Memorial Hospital.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, April 4, at Vinje Lutheran Church. Interment will be at Cloverleaf Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation is one hour prior to the service at the church. Arrangements are with Peterson Brothers Funeral Home.
Irene Emma Isachsen was born on November 9, 1919, in Hosmer, South Dakota. She grew up and received her education in Hosmer. On August 15, 1954, Irene was united in marriage to Clifford S. Isachsen. They lived in various communities throughout the Dakotas in which Clifford taught. In 1958, they moved to a cabin on Elkhorn Lake and later moved into Willmar. Irene worked hard as a homemaker, raising three wonderful children. She was a member of Vinje Lutheran Church and was active in womens circle and altar guild. Irene enjoyed reading, cooking, baking and gardening.
She is survived by her husband, Clifford; two children, Terry Isachsen and Carla (and Tom) Kukkonen; two grandchildren, Sara Kukkonen and Zach (and Stacey) Kukkonen and two siblings, Louis (and Laverna) Knude of Rapid City, SD. and Gladys Newberry of Freeport, IL., besides other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Paul in 2008 and one brother, Marvin.
