James Allen Dean, age 64 of Willmar, passed away on Monday, June 24, 2013 in the St. Cloud Hospital.
A memorial service will be held Monday, July 1, 2013 at Calvary Lutheran Church in Willmar at 11 am, with a graveside service at the Spicer City Cemetery to follow after lunch. A visitation will take place at Peterson Brothers Funeral Home in Willmar on Sunday, June 30 from 5pm -7pm and one hour prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.
James was born September 4, 1948 in Montevideo, MN to Floyd and Marjeret (Eekhoff) Dean. He graduated from Kerkhoven High School in 1966. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1966-1970, being stationed in Japan, Hawaii, and Mississippi. He graduated from Willmar Junior College in 1972. In 1971 he married LeAnn Lindquist and they had two children, Sonja and Trevor.
Jim had many hobbies and passions, including fishing, sports, especially baseball, and studying history. He enjoyed getting to know people through these hobbies and chatting about where the fish were biting or the latest Twins or Vikings games. He loved coaching and watching his kids play sports while they were growing up.
James is survived by his daughter, Sonja (and John) Ferrell of Hedrick, IA, son Trevor Dean of Washington, DC, granddaughter Eleanora Ferrell, mother Marjeret Dean of Willmar, siblings: Sheldon (and Judy) Dean of Pipestone, Bill Dean of Eugene Oregon, Fran (and Robert) Walz of Shakopee and Brad (and Jolene) Dean of Willmar, along with many nephews and nieces.
