SPICER
James "Jim" K. Fehr, age 65, of Spicer, died Saturday afternoon, April 29th, at Rice Memorial Hospital following an extended illness.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 5:30 P.M., Wednesday, May 3rd, at Our Lady Of The Lakes Catholic Church in Spicer with Fr. Jeffrey P. Horejsi officiating. The interment will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 3 P.M. until time of service at the church. Arrangements are with the Green Lake Funeral Home and Cremation Service of Spicer.
James Kent Fehr was born on May 20, 1940, in Waterloo, Iowa, the son of Marjorie T. (Riddlesbarger) and Harland H. Fehr. He moved with his family to New Auburn, Minnesota, where he grew up and received his early education. Jim graduated from Glencoe High School in 1958. He continued his education at Mankato State University and graduated in 1962 with a B.S. Degree in English. On August 20, 1962, he married Kathleen McCabe in Cleveland, Minnesota. They made their home in Montevideo where Jim taught English at Montevideo High School for three years. He continued his education at Mankato State University and in 1966 Jim received his Masters Degree in English. He began teaching English Composition at Willmar Community College, and he taught there for 34 years before retiring in 2000. They lived at Eagle Lake when they first moved to the Willmar area and in 1972, they moved to the Spicer area. He was a member of Our Lady of the Lakes Catholic Church, the Minnesota Education Association, Izaak Walton League, Ducks Unlimited and Pheasants Forever. Jim loved being with family and friends and enjoyed being outdoors hunting and fishing.
Jim is survived by his wife, Kathleen of Spicer, two daughters; Kristine Fehr of Delano and Stacey (and David) Jagt of Lakeville and three grandchildren; Megan Jagt, Erin Jagt and Jonathan Jagt. Also surviving is his father, Harland Fehr of Glencoe and one sister, Carole (and Lawrence) Polzin of Gaylord. He was preceded in death by his mother (Marjorie Fehr).
