Jan Dahl

Jan M. Dahl, age 51, of Willmar, died Saturday evening, January 27th, at Rice Memorial Hospital in Willmar, after battling cancer for several months.
A memorial service will be held at 2 P.M., Wednesday, January 31st, at Willmar Assembly of God Church with Rev. H. Paul McCullough officiating. Friends may call from 5-8 P.M. at the Peterson Brothers Funeral Home and at the church one hour prior to the service.
Jan Marie Dahl was born on January 4, 1956, in Saint Louis, Missouri, the daughter of Carol J. (Haselwood) and Owen H. Flaata. They moved to Minot, North Dakota and in 1958, they moved to the Sacred Heart area. Jan received her education there and graduated from Sacred Heart High School in 1974. She then attended Willmar Technical School of Cosmetology and received her license in 1975. On June 18, 1977, she married Lon Holien and they made their home in the Willmar area. On October 16, 2005 in Hawaii, Jan married Jeff L. Dahl and they made their home on Norway Lake. She worked at Ridgewater College as an instructor in the Cosmetology Department and also worked for Peterson Brothers Funeral Home as a cosmetologist. Jan loved being with family and friends and enjoyed gardening, decorating their home, reading, cooking, and lake activities.
She is survived by her husband, Jeff of New London; one daughter, Amanda Holien (and fiance Ty Hippe) of Sartell; one son, Barrett Holien of Minneapolis; mother, Carol Flatta of Willmar; one granddaughter, Olivia Hippe; and two stepsons, Jared Dahl of Hawick and Jason Dahl of New London. Also surviving are two brothers, Bruce (and Lynn) Flaata of Granite Falls and Russell (and Kim) Flaata of Granite Falls; three sisters, Margo (and Keith) Holien of Spicer, Denise Hammre of Sacred Heart and Ruth (and Jeff) Goldenstein of Kerkhoven; three brothers-in-law, Jack (and Teresa) Dahl of Willmar, Jim (and Julie) Dahl of St. Cloud and Jerry (and Sharon) Dahl of New Londo; one sister-in-law, Jane (and Irv) Zupke of St. Cloud and several nieces and nephews, besides other relatives and friends. Jan was preceded in death by her father (Owen in 2006) and brother-in-law (Donald Hammre).
