Jane Kay "Plain Jane" Jensen, age 68, of Willmar, passed away Tuesday morning, July 9, at her residence.
A celebration of life service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, July 15, at the Church of St. Mary. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. on Sunday, July 14, at Peterson Brothers Funeral Home and will continue for one hour prior to the service at the church. Jane was born on March 23, 1956, in Breckenridge, Minnesota, the daughter of Darwin and Viola (Heitkamp) Tompt. She grew up in Colfax, North Dakota and Cedar Rapids, Iowa prior to moving to Willmar. She graduated from Willmar High School in 1975. On September 18, 1976, at the Church of St. Mary in Willmar, Jane was united in marriage to Jeffrey Jensen and they made their home in Willmar. Jane worked part-time for several years as a housekeeper in Willmar. She was a member of the Church of St. Mary. In December of 2023, Jane was diagnosed with cancer.
Jane had a fun and energetic personality. She and Jeff enjoyed traveling to the North Shore, the Black Hills and to the Florida beaches as well as going for rides around the countryside and going out for "fine" dining. They spent over 40 consecutive years attending the annual drag racing events at Brainard International Raceway. She enjoyed collecting antique dolls, cookie jars and various Walt Disney memorabilia.
She is survived by her loving husband of over 48 years, Jeff; five siblings, Pat (and Phil "Whitey") Wright of Willmar, James (and Elaine) Tompt of St. Michael, Teresa Smith of Sioux Falls, SD., John (and Becky) Tompt of Willmar and David (and Kathy) Tompt of Eden Prairie; her beloved nieces and nephews, Amy, Emily, Lindsey, Sean, Stephen, James, Melissa, Joshua, Amanda, John, Mike, Abbie and Emma; and fifteen great nieces and great nephews, besides many other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister and brother-in-law, Mary Jo (and Loren) Stadtherr and brother-in-law, Tim Smith.
