Janice J. Heikes, age 70, of Willmar, died Saturday afternoon, January 8, at Rice Memorial Hospital.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 P.M., Thursday, January 13th, at the First Covenant Church in Willmar. Interment will be in the Oak Hill Cemetery in New London. Friends may call at the church one hour prior to the services. Arrangements are with the Peterson Brothers Funeral Home in Willmar.
Janice Jean Heikes was born on July 25, 1940 in Brownsdale, Minnesota, the daughter of Inez (Sash) and Carl Heikes. She grew up in the Brownsdale community and graduated from Austin High School in 1958. Janice continued her education at the Austin Vo-Tech and received a degree as a LPN in nursing. In 1959, she married Leonard Eckblad and they lived in Austin, Minneapolis and Jordan were she worked as an LPN. In October of 1970, she married Clifford Morris and they lived in Cass Lake, Minnesota for several years. In June of 1985, she married Norman Palmer and they lived in Silver Bay until they moved to Willmar area in June of 1988. In 1992 Janice was married to Marvin Wold and they made their home in Willmar. She worked at the Willmar Regional Treatment Center, Ashwood Nursing Home and for Presbyterian Family Foundation. She was a member of the First Covenant Church.
She is survived by four sons; Rick (and Lindy) Eckblad of Willmar, Larry (and Mary Jo) Eckblad of Mason City, Iowa, Brian (and Laura) Eckblad of Cass Lake and Jim Morris of Willmar and one daughter; Janeen Eckblad of Willmar. Also surviving are nine grandchildren, four great grandchildren and one sister; Ione Naatz-McAnally of Glenville, besides other relatives and friends. Janice was preceded in death by her parents and four husbands.
