Janice T. Tammen, age 62, of Willmar, died Monday morning, Sept. 10, at the Ridgeview Medical Center in Waconia, Minnesota.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 13, at the Church of St. Mary in Willmar. Interment will be at Fairview Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00-7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 12, at the Church of St. Mary and will continue for one hour prior to the service. Arrangements are with Peterson Brothers Funeral Home in Willmar.
Janice Teresa Tammen was born on July 25, 1950, in Montevideo, Minnesota, the daughter of Bernard A. and Anna Marie (Jaenisch) Schulte. She grew up in Clara City, was baptized and confirmed at St. Clara's Catholic Church and graduated from Clara City High School in 1968. On July 25, 1970, Janice was united in marriage to Wayne R. Tammen and they made their home in the Willmar community. She has been employed at various businesses such as the Willmar Chamber of Commerce, Willmar Public Schools and the West Central Tribune. Janice was a faithful member of the Church of St. Mary in Willmar.
Janice loved to entertain and cook for her family and friends. She was best known for her chicken macaroni salad, having a great memory and extended conversations. Janice took advantage of almost every coupon or sale opportunity at the local supermarkets. She also enjoyed meeting her friends for "coffee hour" at various local restaurants. Janice's beloved grandchildren were her pride and joy.
She is survived by her loving husband of 42 years, Wayne of Willmar; three children, Greta (and Kevin) Marti, Scott Tammen and Steven (and Emily) Tammen, all of Willmar and six grandchildren, Olivia, Grace, Logan, Lily, Madalyn and Liam. Also surviving are two brothers, Doug (and Linda) Schulte of Gaylord and Robert Schulte of Clara City, besides other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her stepfather, Leonard Daniels and one brother, John Schulte.
