A celebration of life service will be held at 2:00pm on Saturday, April 1, at First Lutheran Church of Norway Lake in rural New London, Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Arrangements are entrusted to the Peterson Brothers Funeral Home. www.petersonbrothers.com
Jason Owen Nelson was born January 16th, 1977, in Sauk Centre, Minnesota, son of Daniel and Eileen (Norton) Nelson. He grew up in Pennock and attended kindergarten through 12th grade at Willmar Public Schools, graduating in 1995. He later attended Ridgewater College graduating with an AAS Degree as a Computer Support Technician. Jason was baptized at Big Grove Lutheran Church in rural Belgrade and Confirmed at Calvary Lutheran Church in Willmar. At the age of 17, Jason joined the Minnesota National Guard serving his country for two years.
Growing up on the south side of Pennock was small but full of adventures for Jason. He was the local paperboy for several years. He also worked at Hardees, Dominos, Pizza Hut and Accupress. After High School, Jason’s Adventures brought him to Louisiana working in the oil fields. He later returned home to Minnesota working as a truck driver and also for Surplus Warehouse and Willmar Poultry. Among these jobs he also had his own business, “Clearview Aquatics”, where he set up and maintained tropical fish tanks for area businesses and residence.
Jason had many interests in life from fishing and hunting to coin collecting, bird watching, feeding wildlife, tying fishing lures, riding his Harley and spending time with his dogs. Above all he loved spending time with his family, especially his nieces and nephews.
On Saturday, March 4, 2023, Jason passed away unexpectedly but peacefully at his home in Willmar.
God Blessed Jason with a family who loved him greatly and will miss him dearly! Parents Daniel and Eileen Nelson of Pennock; 3 Siblings and 9 nieces and nephews: Jackie (Jeffrey) Stegeman, Cheyenne (and Kristopher), Tristin, Cody, Brody and Eliza; Joshua (Shelly) Nelson, Charlie and Max; Justen Nelson, Maysen (and Kilee) and Maya; God Children: Cheyenne, Maysen and Maddie Grace; Several Aunts, Uncles and Cousins and his Beloved Puppy Lilly Bleu.
Jason is preceded in death by his Grand Parents Angeline and Larry Norton and Harlan and Adeline Nelson; Uncle, Timothy Norton; Cousin, Nicholas Michaletz and Canine Companion, Macy.
