Jean Elizabeth More, 93, of Willmar, died Wednesday, October 27, at Bethesda PleasantView Nursing Home in Willmar.
Memorial services will be 11 a.m. Friday, November 19, at First Presbyterian Church in Willmar. A private interment will be held at a later date at Ft. Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis. Arrangements are with Peterson Brothers Funeral Home in Willmar. In lieu of memorials, floral arrangements are preferred.
Jean was born April 6, 1917, in Griswold, IA, to Fred L. and Lilly (Rohman) Moore. She graduated high school in 1934 and from the University of Iowa in 1938. She was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma Sorority, Phi Lamba Theta Honorary Educational Fraternity and Zeta Phi Eta, Honorary
Professional and Speech Fraternity. She worked the Mayo Clinic as a Speech Pathologist from 1938 to 1941.
On January 18, 1941, Jean married Robert B. More. They lived in Willmar until retirement, moving then to Silver Springs Shores, Florida. Following the death of her husband in 1990, Jean returned to Willmar.
Jean was a member of First Presbyterian Church, where she served as a past Trustee and Deacon, Sunday School teacher and was active in the Presbyterian Women's Association. She served her community as a past Girl Scout Leader, Troup Consultant, past charter member of AAUW, past member of the American Red Cross, Rice Memorial Hospital volunteer, and a volunteer for reading programs in the elementary schools. Jean also worked as a Speech Pathologist for the Willmar Educational Service. She belonged to several Bridge clubs, enjoyed golf, and was a past member of the Willmar Country Club, Valley View, and Silver Springs Shores Club in Florida. Bob, Jean, and their family enjoyed many summers on Green Lake in Spicer, MN.
She is survived by a son: Robert B. More, Jr. of Coos Bay, OR; three daughters: Patricia Blanch of Plymouth, MN, Joan More (and Roger Day) of Minneapolis, MN and Martha More of Robbinsdale, MN; four grandchildren: Pam Ree (and Jay Johnson), Scott Ree, Sue Colman and Amy More; two great-grandchildren: Kjirsten and Katrin Ree; and other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Robert; and a brother: Dr. Fred L. Moore, Jr.
