Jeannette Strom, age 83, of Willmar, passed away on Tuesday afternoon, November 24, at the St. Cloud Hospital
A celebration of life service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, November 30, at the United Methodist Church in Willmar. Interment will be in Cloverleaf Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service on Monday at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.
Jeannette Strom was born on December 18, 1931, in Litchfield, Minnesota, the daughter of Frederick and Margaret (Sinnett) Becker. She graduated from Kimball High School in 1949 as one of the top in her class. On October 19, 1950, in Tacoma, Washington, Jeannette was united in marriage to Harold W. Strom. They settled in the Kimball community where they began to raise their family. In 1962, they moved to Willmar where she became involved with the United Methodist Church. She was employed as the Society Editor with the Willmar Tribune and later worked form many years in the adolescent program at the Willmar Regional Treatment Center. She was an active member of her church, the American Legion Auxiliary, the Fireman's Auxiliary, and the Eagle's Auxiliary where she served as Madam President. Jeannette also volunteered as a Den Mother for her sons Cub Scout Troops. Her hobbies included baking, cooking, sewing, playing card games, dancing with her husband and traveling. She cherished the times spent with her family and grandchildren.
She is survived by her nine children, Ron (and Wendy) Strom of Spicer, Bob Strom (and Curt Leiser) of Willmar, Linda (and Lawrence) Mead of Spicer, Roger (and Sandy) Strom of Atwater, Lana (and Tim) Carlson of Stanchfield, Richard (and Anita) Strom of Willmar, Russel Strom of Spicer; Lorene Freed of Renville and Ross Strom of Manassas, Virginia; thirty-six grandchildren; forty-two great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren. Also surviving is one sister, Jean Rokola of Golden Valley and two sisters-in-law, Lorraine Bengson of Litchfield and Donna Becker of Litchfield, besides numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Harold in 2007; one daughter, Lois Bacon; one grandson in infancy and one brother, James Becker.
