Jerry Petersen

Jerry D. Petersen, age 64, of Willmar, died Monday morning, Nov. 16, at his home in Willmar.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 20, at Peterson Brothers Funeral Home in Willmar. Interment will be at Cloverleaf Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. on Thursday, Nov 19, at Peterson Brothers Funeral Home and will continue for one hour prior to the service. Jerry was born on March 11, 1951, in Willmar, Minnesota, the son of Gerald and Ruby (Johnson) Petersen. He grew up in Willmar and graduated from Willmar High School. In 1968, Jerry was married to Renee Schow. Later that year he enlisted in the U.S. Army and served in the Viet Nam War. Following his military service in 1972, he returned to work and live in the Willmar community. Jerry was self-employed as a mechanic, drove truck for Smith Trucking, worked at Jennie-O Foods and then was a welder at Trinity Propane Company. In 1986, Jerry was married to Mary Beecroft and in 1999, he was married to Joy Peterson. Jerry's hobbies included hunting, fishing and being with his family and friends.

He is survived by two sons, Terry (and Melissa) Petersen of Kerkhoven and Jesse (and Patricia) Petersen of Litchfield; nine grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. Also surviving are two sisters, Mary Lou (and Bud) Pulsifer of New London and Kathy (and Jamie) Duke of New London, besides other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his three wives, Renee, Mary and Joy; and one nephew, Bill Pulsifer.
