Jerry Roeder

Jerry A. Roeder, age 84, of rural New London, died Tuesday morning, March 28, at Rice Memorial Hospital.
Services will be held at 1 PM Friday, March 31, at Gausdal Lutheran Church of rural New London. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Military Honors will be provide by the Robert Ihlang American Legion Post 537 of New London. Visitation will be from 5-7 PM Thursday at the Peterson Brothers Green Lake Funeral Home in Spicer and at the church one hour prior to the service.
Jerry Adolph Roeder was born on December 29, 1932, in Chicago, Ill. the son of Doris N. (Frantz) and Adolph F. Roeder.  They moved to Detroit, MI in 1934 and the family moved to the Belgrade area in 1950.  He graduated from Belgrade High School in 1951 and then joined the Navy and served on the USS Kawishiwi during the Korean Conflict. On June 29, 1971 he was married to Gwendolyn Louise Ward in New London and they made their home in Minneapolis.  They returned to the New London area and Jerry started working for the BN Railroad office in Willmar as a clerk.  He worked for the railroad until his retirement in 1998.  Jerry was an avid model train collector and was a long time member of the Lakes and Pines Division of the Train Collectors Association. Jerry enjoyed attending the monthly meeting of the association and once a year traveled to York, Pennsylvania for the York Train Show. He was also a member of the New London Legion.
He is survived by his wife, Gwen of New London and one daughter, Amy (and Eric Schaefer) Roeder of Bangor, Maine. Also surviving are two special young friends, Kurtis and Evan and two brothers, Phillip (and Marion) Roeder of Coon Rapids, Walter (and Sharlot) Roeder of Belgrade, besides other relatives and friends. Jerry was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Mary Kathleen Roeder.
