Joan Giem, age 80, of Willmar, died , November 9, at her home in Willmar.
Memorials services will be 2 p.m. Saturday, November 24, at the Willmar Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses.
Joan Edith Giem was born September 3, 1938, in Rochester, Minnesota, the daughter of Orean and Alma (Heyn) Hanson. She grew up and received her education in Rochester, graduating from high school in 1956. Joan worked as an assistant to the Olmsted County treasurer. On July 19, 1958, she married Bruce Giem. They lived in Rochester and later moved to Willmar and Montevideo, where Joan worked as a tax preparer for many years. They returned to Willmar in 2016. Joan was an active member of Jehovah’s Witnesses congregations all of her life and loved to share her faith with others.
She is survived by her husband: Bruce Giem of Willmar; a brother: Merle Hanson of Detroit Lakes; two nieces, Spring Fowler and Penny Olsen, both of Detroit Lakes; a nephew: Kenneth Hanson of Little Falls; and many great-nieces and great-nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; and a brother: LuVerne Hanson.
