Jodie L. Tanata, age 66, of rural Atwater, died Friday morning, January 25, at her home.
A Celebration of Life open house will be from 5-7 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 1 at the Peterson Brothers Atwater Funeral Home in Atwater. A private interment will be held at a later date at the Lake Lillian Community Cemetery. www.petersonbrothers.com
Jodie Lynette Tanata was born on April 25, 1952, in Willmar, Minnesota, the daughter of Carlton and Lois (Thode) Hedlund. She grew up in Atwater and graduated from Atwater High School in 1970. On March 4, 1972, Jodie was united in marriage to Michael J. Tanata and the made their home in the rural Atwater community. She was employed Schwegman’s Cleaners, Lake Lillian State Bank, Heartland in Cosmos and was the bookkeeper for the family farming business. She was a life member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Atwater. Her hobbies included playing softball, bowling, riding horses, playing card games and visiting with her family and friends.
She is survived by her husband, Michael of Atwater; three children, Sheila (and Brian) Eyler of Waynesboro, PA., Joel Tanata of Atwater and Jordan Tanata of Sioux Falls, SD., and two grandchildren, Michael and John Eyler. Also surviving are four siblings, Steve (and Melissa) Hedlund of Portola Valley, CA., Julie Hovey of Willmar, Janell Holien of Atwater and Jill Hedlund of Atwater, many nieces and nephews, besides other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one daughter, Camille.
