Joel D. Packer, age 53 of New London, died Thursday, April 4, at his home.
Memorial service will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, April 9 at the First Presbyterian Church in Willmar. Visitation will be from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 9 at the church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to the New London Water Days fund, since Joel truly enjoyed this event. Joel Dean Packer was born on February 26, 1960, in Worthington, Minnesota, the son of Marvin and Sally (Deuth) Packer. He grew up in Worthington, was confirmed in the Westminster Presbyterian Church, and graduated from Worthington High School in 1978. He worked as a chef in Utah, Arizona, California and most recently at the American Legion in New London. Joel loved to fish and was always up for a dice game with family and friends. He enjoyed practical jokes among friends and back yard bonfires. Joel will be remembered as a good son, brother and friend.
He is survived by his parents, Marv and Sally Packer of New London; one sister, Jan Wiese of Sioux City, IA.; one brother, Dave (and Bonnie) Packer of Madison, WI.,; and four nephews, Jordan, Dylan, Tyler and Alex of Madison, WI, and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by maternal and paternal grandparents.
