Johanna Honey

Johanna B. Honey, age 95, of Spicer, died Wednesday morning, March 20, at the Rice Care Center in Willmar.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, March 29, at the Green Lake Free Lutheran Church in Spicer. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. on Thursday, March 28, at the Peterson Brothers Green Lake Funeral Home in Spicer and will continue for one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday. Interment will be at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 2, at the Restlawn Memorial Gardens in Huron, South Dakota. www.petersonbrothers.com

Johanna Bertha Honey was born on April 10, 1917, in Freeman, South Dakota, the daughter of William and Ernestina (Wollman) Ibis. She grew up and received her education in South Dakota and then worked as a housekeeper in Huron for several years. On January 16, 1937, in Huron, Johanna was united in marriage to Vincent Samuel Honey. They made their home in Huron where she worked as a waitress at Red's Riverside Cafe and was active with the Isaac Walton Sports Club. In 1973, they moved to Cavour, South Dakota and was employed at Meyer's Cafe. In 1980, Vincent died and in 1982, Johanna moved to Spicer, Minnesota. She was a member of the Green Lake Free Lutheran Church and the Spicer Senior Citizens group. Her hobbies included crafting, quilting and dancing.

She is survived by three children, Diane (and Dale) Nurnberg of Spicer, Ronald Honey of Ione, CA., and Raymond (and Janet) Honey of Lodi, CA.; five grandchildren; ten great grandchildren and ten great great grandchildren, besides other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one grandson, Rocky; four brothers, Bill, Arnold, Richard and Art; five sisters, Molly, Katherine, Eleanore, Pauline and Leona; and a daughter-in-law, Cindy Honey.
