John Liedman

October 15, 1950 — February 23, 2013

John D. Liedman, age 62, of Willmar, died Saturday afternoon, Feb. 23, at the St. Cloud Hospital.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, March 4, at the Willmar Christian Reformed Church with military honors provided by the Willmar American Legion Post #167. A spring interment will be at Zion Lutheran Cemetery near Hawick. Visitation will be from 4-6 p.m. on Sunday, March 3, and also one hour prior to the service, both at the Willmar Christian Reformed Church in Willmar. Arrangements are with Peterson Brothers Funeral Home.

John Daniel Liedman was born on October 15, 1950, in Carlton County, Minnesota, the son of Wesley and Mary (Daniels) Liedman. When he was a small child his family moved to California and John grew up in Los Angeles. He served in the U.S. Army with the Military Police Corps. In the early 1970's, John and his parents returned to Minnesota and established their home north of Grove City. As a young man, John was employed at various businesses in Atwater and Grove City. On August 11, 1979, John was united in marriage to Barbaree Goodhart and they made their home in Willmar. John worked for many years as custodian of Calvary Lutheran Church in Willmar and most recently was employed as the maintenance man at Wal-Mart in Willmar. John enjoyed trap shooting and other types of hunting and target shooting. He was also an avid reader. John was hospitalized the past month in Willmar and later in St. Cloud due to complications of diabetes.

He is survived by his wife, Barbaree of Willmar; one step-daughter, Edwina (and Chris) Lorensen and their daughter, Morghan Lorensen, all of Willmar; and his mother, Mary Liedman of Tucson, AZ., besides other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Wesley and his only sibling, Suzanne Smith.
