John Rouser

May 5, 1926 — November 24, 2012

John S. Rouser, 86, of Atwater, passed away Saturday, November 24, 2012 at home surrounded by his loving family.
The family will hold memorial services at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, November 28, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Atwater. Interment will be at Glen Haven Memorial Gardens in Crystal at a later date. Military Honors will be provided by the Atwater American Legion Post. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Tuesday, November 27, at Peterson Brothers Atwater Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service at the church.
John Stanley Rouser was born May 5, 1926 in Coraopolis, Pennsylvania, the son of Charles and Enid (Amend) Rouser. He lived in Pennsylvania until his mom and 4 brothers traveled cross country to Minnesota were they settled in Minneapolis, Minnesota. John went to school until the Navy called to him at the age of 17; he enlisted to join his brothers. After being honorably discharged, John returned back to Minneapolis to begin his career as an adding machine repair man, taxi driver. He also lived out one of his dreams as a dance instructor for Arthur Murray Dance School.
John married Lois C. Myren June 2, 1962. They made their home in Burnsville until 1973 when they moved to Atwater and raised their two sons. John had multiple jobs as Owner of the J & L club, Manager of Atwater Ready Mix, Owner Atwater Bakery and school bus driver.
John enjoyed spending time with his family at their lake home on Diamond Lake pulling the kids skiing and snowmobiling. John loved to read and spend time with his grandchildren. He was known for being the Parade Route driver and wrestling bus driver, to be close to his grandchildren. He also enjoyed traveling, mowing his yards and dancing with Lois every chance he could.
One of John's memorable moments was receiving his High School Diploma with his grandson Aaron in May of 2005.
He was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Atwater. He was a member of the Atwater Lions, Atwater Legion and was a council member and later become the Mayor of Atwater.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Lois; his children Bruce (and Christine) Rouser and their seven children Micah and Essie Rouser, Joshua, Hannah, Caleb, Alyssa, Charity and Cathryn; Daniel (and Cheryl) Rouser and their four children Aaron, Kyrietta, Hayden and Samuel. Daughters; Kathy Etzel and Debbie Santineau; one brother James (June) Rouser
He is preceded in death by his parents Charles & Enid, and brothers Wayne, Robert and Richard.
