Jose Perez

Jose Porfirio Perez, age 60, of Willmar, died Monday evening, December 29, at his home in Willmar.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Friday, January 2, at the Church of St. Mary in Willmar with visitation one hour prior to the service at the church. Arrangements are with Peterson Brothers Funeral Home in Willmar.

Jose was born February 28, 1954, in Rio Grande City, Texas, the son of Porfirio and Endina (Leal) Perez. He grew up in the beautiful Rio Grande Valley of Texas. Jose attended school in Weslaco, Texas through 11th grade. He did not graduate, but he was a very smart man.
He met a lot of important people with his talent of being a master carpenter. He built anything from furniture to two story apartment buildings.
Jose married his now ex-wife, Esther Perez, on May 17, 1972 and they had five children: Irma, Monica, Jessie, Tanya, and Lorena. He has nineteen grandchildren and two great-grandchildren that he always loved so much.
Jose moved to Willmar in 2007 and made Willmar his home. He was employed with PALS until August 2014, when he retired due to his declining health.
Jose lived his life his way and how he wanted. He was always kind-hearted to others and willing to help whenever possible. He was a wonderful man and an especially great father. He will be missed.
