Joseph Conway, age 63, of Atwater, died Tuesday, September 30, at the Minnesota State Veterans Home in Fergus Falls.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 4, at the Church of St. Patrick in Kandiyohi. Interment will be at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Atwater. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. on Friday, October 3, with a 7:00 p.m. Knights of Columbus Rosary at the Church of St. Patrick in Kandiyohi and visitation will continue for one hour prior to the Mass at the church on Saturday. Joseph Alfred Conway was born on March 22, 1951, in Decatur, Nebraska, the son of James and Wilma (Deal) Conway. At the age of 5, his family moved to the Little Falls area where he grew up and received his education. From 1969 to 1971, Joe served in the U.S Army and was stationed in Germany. On August 24, 1974, Joe was united in marriage to Joan Lee Zimmermann and they made their home in Randall until 1977 when they moved to Atwater. Joe worked as an appliance repairman for Holm Brothers of Atwater and was later self-employed as an appliance repairman. He also worked as a truck driver for Miller and Miller and then Gravel Express in Olivia. Joe was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church and was active in the Knights of Columbus. He was a volunteer for the Atwater Fire Department and as an EMT with the Atwater Ambulance. Joe enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. His hobbies included farming, mechanics, old tractors, bowling, hunting and fishing.
He is survived by his wife, Joan of Atwater; four children, Thomas (and Deana Schafer) Conway of Willmar, Terri (and Bill) McCann of Eden Valley, Beth Conway (and Dave Helmuth) of Clara City and Patrick (and Katie) Conway of Grove City; seven grandchildren and one great grandchild. Also surviving are one sister, Laura (and Ralph) Rogers of Gillette, WY; and three brothers, Ron (and Letha) Conway of Sloan, IA, Michael (and Susie) Conway of Lyons, NE, and Ken (and Robin) Conway of Beemer, NE; besides other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
