Ronald J. Wolney, age 67, of rural Spicer, Minnesota and Trinity, Florida, and formerly of Roseville, Minnesota, died at his home on Nest Lake near Spicer.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Friday, August 30, at Our Lady of the Lakes Catholic Church in Spicer. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Military Honors will be provided by Henderson-Lewis American Legion Post 545 of Spicer. Honorary pallbearers will be Jack Wolney, Dick Hillstrom, Pat Meyer and Jim Salviski. Arrangements are with Peterson Brothers Green Lake Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Spicer. He is survived by wife, Linda (Dzieweczysnki), children, Christopher (Anne) of Fort Collins, CO , Heather (Jamie) Thompson of Spicer, MN and two grandchildren, Griffin and Preston Thompson, brothers Michael (Sue) Wolney and Jack Wolney, sisters, Linda (Jerry) Pederson and Laura (Craig) Kerr, mother-in-law, Florence Dzieweczynski, sister-in-law, Carol (Dzieweczynski) Reiher, many nieces, nephews and friends. Ron was preceded in death by father, Emil Wolney and mother, Dorothy (Koerner) Mitchell. Ron worked for the US Army Corps of Engineers until retirement. He served in the US Army 10th Calvary division during the Vietnam War. Ron enjoyed computers and was webmaster for several businesses and organizations, could fix almost anything, was a great dancer and was known as "The Grillmaster". Ron had a radio voice (think Wolfman Jack) that made everyone look up and take notice.
