Joyce was born May 20, 1938 at Rice Hospital attended by well-known Dr. Guy. He said she was as pretty as the Lilacs in full bloom. She was the only daughter of Edwin Railson and Edith (Larson) Railson. She grew up in Norway Lake Township near New London, MN and attended country School on Little Crow Trail. She graduated New London High School in 1956 and was elected Homecoming Queen. After graduation she worked in downtown Minneapolis at Northwestern National Bank before marrying Lloyd Vernon (Buckshot) Johnson on August 15, 1959. On June 23, 1964, they welcomed an only daughter, Nathalie. She was a resident of Willmar for almost 60 years. She worked as a Weight Watcher Leader traveling to clients throughout Western Minnesota. Joyce loved many things but most of all, her animals and the dozens she rescued over the years. She was a member of the Democratic Party (DFL) and never missed a vote since 1960. She was proud of her personal signed cards from President Barack Obama, President Bill Clinton, Vice President Al Gore, Senator Paul Wellstone, and of course Vice President Hubert Humphrey. And finally, she also loved anything Scandinavian, especially sweets. She was a lifelong Lutheran and a member of Vinje Lutheran Church.
Joyce is survived by her daughter Nathalie and son-in-law Tony Parsons of Minneapolis; dearest friends Doris, Julie and Sheila for whom she is forever grateful; her loyal neighbors and friends; brother Wayne Railson; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Vern; brother Robert; and her beloved dogs and cats.
