Judy Ann Nelson, age 58, of Willmar, died Tuesday morning, June 6, at the Bethesda Hospital in St. Paul.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, June 10, at First Covenant Church in Willmar with Rev. Daniel Johnson officiating. Interment will be at Union Cemetery in Atwater. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Friday at Peterson Brothers Funeral Home in Willmar and one hour prior to the service at the church.
Judy was born on October 27, 1947, in Grant City, MO., the daughter of Paul and Ardith (Spainhower) Farnsworth. In 1952, she and her family moved to Minnetonka and graduated from Minnetonka High School in 1967. On June 12, 1967, at the Little Brown Church in the Vale in Iowa, she was married to Vernon W. Nelson. They made their home on a farm near Atwater. Judy attended St. Benedict's College, graduating with a BS degree in Nursing in August of 1983. She was employed at the Willmar Health Care Center for several years before working for Kandiyohi County as the Public Health Nurse, retiring in the Spring of 2006 due to her ill health.
She is survived by her husband, Vernon of Atwater; two children, Scott (and Amy) Nelson of Willmar and Liane Nelson of Atwater, and seven grandchildren, Autumn, Emily and Alex Nelson and Michaela Nelson, Matthew, Michael and Morgan Webb. Also surviving is her mother, Ardith Farnsworth of Bloomington; two brothers, Fred Farnsworth of Richfield and Doug Farnsworth of Yankton, SD.; one sister Connie (and Gary) Long of Bloomington, besides other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her father, Paul in 2001; one granddaughter, Kali in 1996, and one brother, Richard in 1978.
