Julie Reese

Julie C. (Goedert) Reese, age 60 of Willmar, passed away Saturday afternoon, Oct. 23, at her home in Willmar following an extended illness.

A celebration of life will be held from 4-6 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 30, at the Fraternal Order of Eagles in Willmar.  A private graveside service will be held at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery.  Arrangements are with Peterson Brothers Funeral Home. www.petersonbrothers.com

Julie was born on April 3, 1961, in Willmar, Minnesota, the daughter of Durwood and Jean (Patrick) Goedert.  She grew up in Willmar, was baptized and confirmed at St. Mary’s Catholic Church and graduated from Willmar High School in 1979.  She attended college at the University of Minnesota Morris and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Education and received her Masters of Arts degree in Education at St. Mary’s University of Minnesota in Minneapolis.  Julie was employed as an Elementary Teacher with the BOLD School district for over 25 years.  She enjoyed knitting, reading, music and spending time with Lee and her family.  Her absolute passion was teaching her 2nd graders.

She is survived by her love, Lee Wetterling of Willmar; her mother, Jean Goedert of Willmar; three siblings, Lisa (and Roger) Stephens of Willmar, Doug (and Naomi) Goedert of Crystal and Jon Goedert of Willmar; many nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her father, Durwood in 1974.
