June L. Miller 82, of Atwater, died Thursday afternoon, Nov. 24, at Rice Memorial Hospital in Willmar.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 30, at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Atwater. Interment will be at Union Cemetery in Atwater. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 29, at the Atwater Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service at the church.
June Leona Miller was born on March 21, 1929, in Willmar, Minnesota, the daughter of John and Annetta (Bruggers) Dykema. She grew up on the family farm in Roseland and attended District #90 country school. June graduated from Willmar High School in 1947 and received her teacher's training in Litchfield. She taught country schools in the Atwater area for 4 years. On August 25, 1950, June was married to Philip Miller in Willmar. They lived on the Miller family farm near Diamond Lake until Philip entered the U.S. Army in 1955. In 1957, they moved into Atwater where June operated a daycare home for 25 years.
She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church. June enjoyed being a day care provider, reading and baking, especially chocolate chip cookies and watching soap operas. During the summer months, she treasured the time spent with family at the cabin on Diamond Lake.
She is survived by her husband, Philip; three children, Cheryl (and Gary) Kulset of New London, Larry (and Helga) Miller of Willmar and Alan (and Carla) Miller of Spicer; seven grandchildren, Grant (and Cortney), Kimberly (and Dominique), Ryan, Daniel, Sarah, Kari and Quentin; three great grandchildren, Grady, Ellianna and Mason. Also surviving is one brother, Robert (and Janice) Dykema of Maplewood, besides other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers, Mike, Melvin and Warren.
