Juva Z. Huisenga, age 83, of Willmar, died Wednesday evening, January 19th, at the Bethesda Heritage Center in Willmar.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Monday, January 24, at Vinje Lutheran Church in Willmar. Interment will be in Cloverleaf Cemetery in Willmar. Visitation will be 3-5 p.m.. Sunday at Peterson Brothers Funeral Home in Willmar and one hour prior to the service at the church.
Juva was born September 7, 1927, in Sleepy Eye, Minnesota, the daughter of August and Amanda (Stage) Grammentz. She was baptized and confirmed at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Sacred Heart. She graduated from Sacred Heart High School in 1945 and from St. Cloud Beauty School in 1946. She worked as a beautician in Raymond, where she met Peter Huisenga. They were married in November 1948 in Montevideo. They lived in the Raymond area and later moved to Willmar. Juva worked as a cook at the Blue Chip Cafe and Buccaneer Lounge in Willmar from 1961 to 1967. Her husband, Peter, died on March 31, 1969. In 1973, Juva moved to Benson, where she managed the Pheasant Bar. In 1984, she returned to Willmar and worked in housekeeping at the Holiday Inn. She was a member of Vinje Lutheran Church. She enjoyed bowling, embroidery, Bingo and watching the Minnesota Twins.
She is survived by her children: Joyce (and Dean) Hawkinson of South Haven, Lonnie (and Elizabeth) Huisenga of Loretto, Pam (and Brad) Lorz, Jolene Wrobleski and Ronda (and Kevin) Mundahl, all of Willmar; fifteen grandchildren: Nathan (and Traci) Hawkinson, Eric (and Kim) Hawkinson, Christopher Hawkinson, Tiffany Lorz, Amanda Steffens, Amy (and Nick) Rodriguez, Ashley (and Danny) Alonzo, Tracy Lorz, Ross Lorz, Sam Weber, Kassondra Mundahl, Brian Mundahl, Justin Mundahl, Dylan Huisenga and Nicole Huisenga; fifteen great-grandchildren: Alexis, Sydney, Sienna, Ryleigh, Isaac, Izaiah, Juan, Tayden, Leland, Sage, Addison, Evan, Skylar, Anthony and Marissa; a brother: Marvin (and Marilyn) Grammentz of Morris; three sisters: Velma Huesinkveld of Rochester, Antoinette (and Leslie) Delp of Willmar and Leola Snell of Taylor Mill, KY; five sisters-in-law: Dorraine Grammentz, Rosie Grammentz, Carol Cantwell, Christina (and Theo) Haats and Alice Huisenga; several nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, a sister: Bertha Vogt, three brothers, Dennis, Darwin and Olando Grammentz; a grandson: Aaron Wrobleski; and a nephew: Daniel Grammentz.
