Kathryn Mary Sasse

Kathryn Sasse, age 66, of Spicer passed away Thursday evening, November 23 at the St. Cloud Hospital following injuries sustained after a fall. 

Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. followed by a celebration of life service at 11 a.m. on Saturday December 9, at Cross Roads Community United Methodist Church in Spicer.   A time of fellowship at the Spicer American Legion will follow the service.  In lieu of flowers the family prefers donations be made in Kathryn’s honor to The Link in New London.  Arrangements are entrusted to the Peterson Brothers Green Lake Funeral Home in Spicer.  www.petersonbrothers.com

Kathryn Mary Sasse was born on February 18, 1957, in Willmar, Minnesota, to Allyn and Mary (Feeney) Cappelen.  She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith, grew up in Willmar and graduated from Willmar High School in 1975.  Kathryn married Paul Hoffer on August 10, 1974, at Hope Presbyterian Church in Spicer and they made their home in Kandiyohi.  To this union two children were born. On November 22, 1986, she married Michael Sasse at Bethel Lutheran Church in Willmar. With this union she gained three bonus children.  Kathryn was the News Director at 1590 KDJS while her children were young, a career she truly thrived at.  Kathryn enjoyed reading, gardening, fishing, hunting, trying new recipes, watching her favorite movie ‘The Wizard of Oz’, and playing cards with her friends.  Kathryn will be remembered for many things including, meeting and getting to know new people, her love of attending social gatherings, her sense of humor, and her love for her family. 

Kathryn is survived by her husband, Michael Sasse of Spicer; four children, Adam and (Debra) Hoffer of Clara City, Alexandra and (Ryan) Peterson of Pennock, Sara Lester of New London and Eric and (Shera) Sasse of Willmar; ten grandchildren, Dasan, Kalle, Eryn, Aiden, Mircea, Daunte, Neela, London, Talon, and Jabin, and one great-grandchild, Cole Olson.  Also surviving are two siblings, Paul and (Carol) Cappelen of Spicer and David (Lesa) Cappelen of Rogers, besides many nieces, nephews and friends. 

Kathryn was preceded in death by her parents, Allyn Cappelen and Mary (and Herb) Sharstrom; two siblings, Jeff Cappelen and Nancee Lippert and a stepson, Adam Sasse.
