Leland Hanson

Leland Hanson, age 62, of Sunburg, died Monday morning, January 26, at Bethesda Heritage Center Nursing Home in Willmar.

Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Friday, January 30, at the Sunburg Free Lutheran Church in Sunburg. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Thursday at Peterson Brothers Sunburg Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service at the church. Memorials are preferred to the National Parkinson Foundation of Minnesota
(parkinsonmn.org).

Leland Archie Hanson was born February 10, 1952, in Glenwood, Minnesota, the son of Allen and Genevieve (Gandrud) Hanson. He grew up on the family farm south of Glenwood and graduated from Glenwood High School in 1970. He then worked on the family farm. On September 30, 1972, he married Janice Gunderson at the Sunburg Free Lutheran Church and they made their home in Sunburg. Leland later worked at Fagen-Pulsifer Construction and Glenwood Manufacturing. In 1989, Leland and Janice moved to Sunburg and Leland went to work for Willmar Poultry Company in Willmar.

Leland was a member of the Sunburg Free Lutheran Church. He enjoyed hunting and shooting trap and had a passion for cars.

He is survived by his wife, Janice Hanson of Sunburg; a daughter, Cherry (and Ryan) Olsen of Spicer; six grandchildren, Sarah, Karl, Anneka, Greta, Erik, and Ivar; three brothers, John (and Kathy) Hanson of Glenwood, Grant (and Deb) Hanson of Glenwood and Tom Hanson of St. Paul; one sister, Mary (and Douglas) Jenniges of Glenwood; several nieces and nephews besides other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Richard Hanson.
