Lelane "Lee" Eleanor Scheltens, age 65, of Clara City, formerly of Spicer, died Tuesday afternoon, July 21st, at the Clara City Care Center in Clara City.
Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Friday, July 24, at Peterson Brothers Funeral Home in Willmar. Interment will be in Fairview Cemetery in Raymond. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Lee was born June 14, 1944, in Willmar to Leland and Eleanor (Skelly) Nelson. She grew up in Willmar, was baptized and confirmed at Bethel Lutheran Church and received her education in the Willmar Public Schools, graduating from Willmar High School. She then attended Willmar Community College, receiving her licenced practical nursing degree. On June 20, 1964, Lee married Lary Scheltens at Bethel Lutheran Church in Willmar. They lived and farmed in the Raymond area for 31 years, before moving to Lake Florida. Lee worked as a nurse at Rice Memorial Hospital for eleven years, retiring when she became ill. She was a member of the American Legion Post 167 Auxiliary in Willmar. Lee had resided for the past seven years at the Clara City Care Center.
She is survived by her husband: Lary of Spicer; a son: Chad Scheltens of Coventry, Connecticut; her parents: Leland and Eleanor Nelson of Willmar; a brother: Gary (and Karen) Nelson of Willmar; two sisters: Judy (and Waldon) Bahn of Apple Valley and Lynn (and Glenn) Kalenberg of Litchfield; several nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by a brother: David Nelson.
