Dr. Leonard Kenneth Lackore, 74, of Willmar, died Sunday, June 8, at Bethesda Heritage Center Nursing Home.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 14, at Bethel Lutheran Church in Willmar. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. on Friday at Peterson Brothers Funeral Home in Willmar and an hour before the services at the church. Memorials are preferred to the Willmar Area Food Shelf, Habitat for Humanity of Kandiyohi County, or the Willmar Public Schools.
Dr. Leonard Kenneth Lackore was born on June 13, 1933, in Forest City, Iowa, to Norman Kenneth and Velma (McCrery) Lackore. He grew up in Leland, Iowa, graduated from Forest City High School, and attended Luther College in Decorah, Iowa. He married Elizabeth Ann (Betts) Larson on May 29, 1954. He received his medical degree from the University of Iowa, in 1958. Following his internship at St. Luke's Hospital in Duluth, Minnesota, they moved to Sisseton, South Dakota, where he served two years at the U.S. Public Health Indian Hospital. He practiced general medicine in St. Ansgar, Iowa, for seven years, and then served a residency in anesthesiology at the University of Florida in Gainesville. He joined the Willmar Medical Center (now ACMC) in November 1971, and practiced anesthesiology here for 20 years, retiring in 1991.
He is survived by his wife; two daughters, Judith (and Mark) Monroe of Newton, Iowa, and Ramona Lackore (and Ron Adkins) of Willmar; five grandchildren, Daniel, Aaron, and Rachel Monroe, and Miles and Shannon Adkins; a sister, Margaret (and Duane) Pogge of Davenport, Iowa; and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
