Leontine "Lea" Rose Braun, age 76, of Willmar, died unexpectedly, Tuesday afternoon, October 16, at her home. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Monday, October 22, at the Church of St. Mary. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-7 P.M. with Rosary Service at 7 P.M. on Sunday, October 21, at Peterson Brothers Funeral Home and will continue for one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday.
Lea was born on March 16, 1931, in Regent, North Dakota, the daughter of Mike and Margaret (Wandler) Jahner. She grew up and received her education in Regent. On June 12, 1950, at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Regent, she was married to John Braun. They lived in Dickinson, North Dakota and Colby, Kansas before moving to Willmar in 1955. She was employed as a homemaker and an Avon Sales Rep. for over 20 years, retiring in 1993. She was an active member of the Church of St. Mary and was a past president of the Parish Society and member of the D.A.V. Auxiliary. Lea was also a volunteer election judge for many years. She enjoyed baking, traveling, gardening, playing cards and bible study.
She is survived by her husband, John of Willmar; four children, Lauren Braun of Willmar, Albin Braun of Willmar, Gerald (and Lynette) Braun of Willmar and Deborah (and David) Sweep of Spicer; six grandchildren and one great grandchild. Also surviving are two brothers, George (and Rose) Jahner of Bismark, ND., and Simon (and Bertha) Jahner of Regent, ND.; and four sisters, Pauline Frank of Willmar, Catherine (and Don) Franchuk of Dickinson, ND., Viola (and Jim) Franchuk of Bismark, ND., and Dorothy (and Rodger) Nichols of Fargo, ND., besides other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother-in-law, Christian Frank and a sister-in-law, Sally Jahner..
