LeRoy Everson

LeRoy A. Everson, age 77, of Atwater, died Tuesday evening, Dec. 18, at his home.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 22, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Atwater. Interment will be at Union Cemetery in Atwater with military honors provided by the Atwater American Legion Post #375. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 21, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Atwater and will continue for one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday. Arrangements are with the Peterson Brothers Funeral Home in Atwater.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to Immanuel Lutheran Church Organ Fund, Bethesda Adult Day Break or Union Cemetery Association are preferred.

LeRoy Alex Everson was born on September 7, 1935, in Litchfield, Minnesota, the son of Alexander and Elsie (Johnson) Everson. He grew up in the rural Atwater area, graduated from Atwater High School in 1953 and served for 2 years in the U.S. Army in Fairbanks, Alaska. On July 25, 1959, LeRoy was married to Barbara Ann Oredson. They have lived and farmed in the rural Atwater community for over 50 years. In 1974, he graduated from the Willmar Vo-Tech Adult Farm Management program.

LeRoy served as a board member with the Atwater School, Atwater Creamery and Immanuel Lutheran Church. He was a Registered Technician for the American Breeders Service. LeRoy was an avid sports fan of all sports, but especially enjoyed attending the Atwater sporting events. For the past 22 years, LeRoy has been diagnosed with Parkinson's disease. He attended Bethesda Adult Day Break for 6 years.

He is survived by his loving wife, Barbara; three children, Troy Everson of Atwater, Todd (and Stephanie) Everson of St. Cloud and Elizabeth Everson of Atwater and two grandchildren, Emily and Ben. Also surviving is one brother, Ronald (and Linda) Everson of Atwater; one sister, JoAnne (and Edward) Anderson of Colorado and a brother-in-law, Peter Miller of New York, besides other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Toran; two sisters, Gloria and Marlene and a brother-in-law, Verdon Skoglund.
