LeRoy Fluck

LeRoy J. Fluck, age 83, of Willmar, and formerly of Atwater, died Tuesday afternoon, December 21, at the Rice Care Center in Willmar.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, December 27, at the First Lutheran Church in Litchfield. Interment will be at Ripley Cemetery in Litchfield. Visitation will be from 4-7 PM on Sunday, December 26, at the Atwater Funeral Home and will continue for one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday. In lieu of flowers, the family encourages memorials to Rice Hospice or the Rice Care Center in Willmar.

LeRoy James Fluck was born on December 27, 1926, on the family farm near Hector, Minnesota, the son of Elmer W. Fluck and Blanche L. Marquardt. He grew up and received his education in the Hector community. LeRoy was baptized on May 1, 1928, in Hector at the Methodist Church and confirmed on January 29, 1946, in Minneapolis at the Central Lutheran Church. On June 23, 1945, in Hector, LeRoy was united in marriage to Audrey E. Johnson. They lived in Minneapolis and in 1948 moved to Litchfield. From 1950 to 1988, LeRoy was employed with the Great Northern Railroad and Burlington Northern Railroad in the Engineering and Track Maintenance departments. With his employment, they lived in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, Superior, Wisconsin, Mound and Atwater. In 2006, they moved to Willmar.

LeRoy was a communicator for the Lutheran Brotherhood for 15 years, served on the church council at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Atwater and on the building committee at First Lutheran Church in Litchfield during the 1960's.

LeRoy had a brief part in the Walt Disney movie "Foot Loose Goose". He enjoyed gardening, bowling, camping, dancing, music and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife, Audrey of Willmar; four children, Beverly (and Henry) Abbett of Spicer, Steven (and Linda) Fluck of Carlton, Shirley (and Tony) Farley of Ham Lake and Brad Fluck of Atwater; ten grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren and seven step-great grandchildren. Also surviving is a sister, Ruth Draxten of Litchfield, besides other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his stepfather, Matt Prellwitz; one sister, Lilah Tesch and one brother, Clifford Fluck.
