Lillian Barton

July 17, 1906 — June 14, 2007

Lillian E. Barton, 100, of Willmar, Minnesota, formerly of Seneca, Kansas, died Thursday, June 14, at the Sterling House in Willmar.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at Peterson Brothers Funeral Home in Willmar. Burial will be at a later date at the Seneca City Cemetery. Visitation is one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

She was born July 17, 1906, to Oscar and Edith (Almquist) Almquist in Central City, Nebraska. She grew up and graduated from high school in Central City in 1924. She later graduated from the Central Nebraska College. She taught elementary school in Palmer, Nebraska. She married Vivien Barton on June 30, 1929, in Central City, where they lived until 1942, when they moved to Yankton, South Dakota. Later they lived in Sioux City, Iowa, Salem Virginia, Minneapolis, Minnesota and Seneca, Kansas, before moving to Willmar, Minnesota in 1979.

She is survived by one son: John (and Veda) Barton of Willmar; three grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and one brother: Martin (and Joyce) Almquist of Tucson, Arizona

She was preceded in death by her husband and several siblings.
