Lillian M. Eastlund, age 106, of Willmar and formerly of Blomkest, passed away Friday morning, October 14, at Bethesda Grand in Willmar.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 19, at Svea Evangelical Lutheran Church. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Arrangements are entrusted to the Peterson Brothers Funeral Home. www.petersonbrothers.com
Lillian Marie Eastlund was born on June 19, 1916, in Olivia, Minnesota, the daughter of Charles and Mathilda (Hosek) Kostka. When she was a young child, her family moved to the Blomkest area where she attended country school. On March 17, 1937, Lillian was united in marriage to Milton Eastlund and they resided on the Eastlund family farm. Among her many interests were sewing, reading and gardening. She also liked to bake and her cookie jar was never empty. Lillian was an active member of Svea Lutheran Church where she taught Sunday School for many years. Milton passed away in 1990 and in 2003, she moved to Sunrise Village Independent Living where met many friends. In 2018, she moved into Bethesda Grand.
She is survived by her daughter, Julie (and Jim) Honzay of Spicer; two siblings, Edith Malmanger of Waite Park and LeRoy Kostka of Rogers, AR.; and two sisters-in-law, Helen Kostka of Willmar and Dottie Kostka of Fargo, ND., besides several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and six siblings, Lottie Gallaghan, Dorothy Dehncke, Harold Kostka, Donald Kostka, Gladys Johnson and Tom Kostka.
