Lillian C. Nelson, age 91, of Spicer, died Wednesday, April 3, at the Bethesda Heritage Center in Willmar.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 6, at Faith Lutheran Church in Spicer. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Arrangements are with the Peterson Brothers Green Lake Funeral Home in Spicer. www.petersonbrothers.com
Lillian Clara Nelson was born on January 18, 1922, near Spicer, Minnesota, the daughter of Lars and Klara (Wiig) Wig. She grew up and received her education in Spicer. On November 11, 1945, she was married to Ernest Tvete. Ernest died on April 1, 1946. On June 29, 1947, Lillian was united in marriage to Luther O. E. Nelson and they made their home in the Spicer community. In 1972, Lillian began employment at Bethesda Homes Inc. in the housekeeping and laundry department. Luther died in 1983 and in 1995, Lillian retired.
Lillian was a member of the Zion Lutheran / Faith Lutheran Church in Spicer where she taught Sunday school and was active in church circle. Lillian's hobbies included quilting, embroidery, baking, cooking and family social events.
She is survived by five children, Leon Nelson (and special friend, Lynn) of Spicer, Kenneth Nelson of Spicer, Keith (and Lynette) Nelson of Spicer, Sharon Nelson of Spicer and Lyle (and Debra) Nelson of Brooten; thirteen grandchildren; twenty-three great grandchildren and one great great granddaughter. Also surviving is two brothers, Clifford Wig and Roger Wig, both of Spicer and one sister, Margot Tvete of Willmar, besides other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; both husbands, Ernest and Luther and one brother, Leonard in World War II.
