Lloyd Lehn

Lloyd A. Lehn, age 94, of Willmar, died peacefully, surrounded by his family on Sunday afternoon, Jan. 31, at Rice Memorial Hospital in Willmar.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 6, at the Church of St. Mary in Willmar. Interment will be in the church cemetery with military honors provided by the Willmar American Legion Post #167. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. with an Elks ritual for funeral service at 7 p.m. on Friday, February 5, at Peterson Brothers Funeral Home in Willmar and will continue for one hour prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials of your choice are preferred.

Lloyd Aloysius Lehn was born on November 8, 1921 in Brandon, Minnesota, the son of John and Susan (Tamble) Lehn. He grew up on a family farm in Brandon where he graduated from High School. Lloyd continued his education at St. Cloud Teacher's College where he received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Education. Lloyd enlisted in the Navy in 1941 and served overseas during World War II. Lloyd was honorably discharged with the rank of Lieutenant in May, 1946.

Lloyd moved to Willmar, Minnesota in 1946, where he taught high school science for 37 years, retiring in 1983. During his teaching career, he also coached football, basketball, and hockey. He started the boy's hockey program in Willmar, and was the first coach to take the Cardinals to the state tournament in 1947.

Lloyd married the love of his life, Eleanore Jean Stroh, on June 10, 1952 in Millerville, Minnesota. They made Willmar their home where they raised their family. Some of Lloyd's favorite pastimes were bowling, golfing, gardening, playing cards, cooking, and baking. He was an avid fan of all sports, especially the Minnesota Twins.

Lloyd was a faithful and long-time member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, where he was a lector and a 4th degree Knights of Columbus. He was also a member of the American Legion and VFW. He was a member of the Willmar Elks Lodge for over 60 years, serving as a past Exalted Ruler and Secretary. He was also District Deputy Grand Exalted Ruler of the Minnesota Elks.

He is survived by his children, Kay (and Jay) Jackson of Wisconsin Rapids, WI., George (and Tammy) Lehn of Hutchinson, Pam Lehn (and Scott Dyer) of Toronto, Canada, Sue (and Mike) Edwards of New London, Kenneth (and Loretta) Lehn of Los Angeles, CA., Michael (and Sina Martin) Lehn of Gibbon, NE; Mary Beth (and Kurt) Schmidt of New London; nine grandchildren; and two sisters Ione Grubb of Brandon, and Donna Kreps of Elgin, IL.; along with many other relatives and friends.

Lloyd was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Eleanore in 1971; two brothers and three sisters.
