Lois Shirley Ann Gjerdingen, age 82, of Willmar, died Thursday morning, May 26, at Rice Memorial Hospital.
Her memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, May 31, at Calvary Lutheran Church in Willmar. Interment will be in Eagle Lake Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation: will be one hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday. Arrangements are handled by Peterson Brothers Funeral Home and Cremation Service.
Lois was born on March 24, 1929, in Sauk Centre, the daughter of Simon and Alma (Peterson) Holmes. She grew up in Sauk Centre, was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith and graduated from Sauk Centre High School in 1947. On February 24, 1951, Lois was united in marriage to Orville J. Gjerdingen. They lived in various parts of the United Stated while Orville served in the military during the Korean War. In 1954, they moved to Willmar. Lois was employed at the State Hospital - WRTC for over 37 years, retiring in 1991 as head seamstress. She was a member of Calvary Lutheran Church. Lois enjoyed various outdoor activities, cooking, baking and entertaining her family and friends.
She is survived by her two children, Greg Gjerdingen and Nola (and Dennis) Woltjer; four grandchildren; six great grandchildren; one brother, Adrian "Bubby" (and Eleanore) Holm; and three sisters, Evelyn (and Roy) Emmeck, Vivian Doege and Lela (and Ted) Borg.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; four brothers, Emil, Earl, Herman and Gordon and three sisters, Amanda, Sylvia and Clara in infancy.
