Lois B. Shaffer, age 80, of Atwater, died Wednesday evening, November 17 at the Bethesda Pleasant View Nursing Home in Willmar.
Services will be held at 10:30 A.M., Monday, November 22, at the Peterson Brothers Atwater Funeral Home. Visitation will one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. The interment will be in the Zion Lutheran Cemetey near Northrop.
Lois Berdine Shaffer was born on September 28, 1930 on the family farm in Fraser Township, Martin County, near Fairmont, the daughter of John and Anna (Lane) Roehler. She grew up and received her education in Sherburne, Minnesota. In 1948, she was married to Willis Shaffer and they made their home in Esterville, Iowa. They later moved to Willmar and Lois was employed at the Willmar Poultry Company. She later went to work for Jennie-O Food and worked there for 32 years. After retiring, she moved to Atwater and has resided there since. Lois enjoyed camping, fishing, reading, crossword puzzles and time spent with her family.
She is survived by her four children: Opal (and Terry) Muckey of Moneta, Iowa, Sandra (and Scoby) Schneider of Emmetsburg, Iowa, Shawn (and Gayle) Shaffer of Okanowa, Japan and David (and Pat) Shaffer of Atwater; seven grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. Also surviving are two brothers: Merton Roehler of Evansville and Clarence (and Sarah) Mitchell of Lake Park, Iowa and two sisters: Jean Stinehart of Glendale, Arizona and JoAnn Stinehart of Wisconsin, besides other relatives and friends.
Lois was preceded in death by her parents; her ex-husband; one brother: Ronnie Roehler; one sister: Dorothy, and a grandson: Shane Shaffer.
