Lois M. Yarmon, age 83, of Atwater, died Friday evening, March 7, at Bethesda Heritage Center Nursing Home in Willmar.
Memorial services will be 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 16, at the Atwater Community Center in Atwater with Rev. Art Wiese of United Lutheran Church of Lake Lillian officiating. Interment will be in the Tromso Cemetery in Lake Lillian. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Arrangements are with the Atwater Funeral Home. Memorials are preferred to the United Lutheran Church Building Fund.
Lois Marie Yarmon was born April 17, 1924, in Fremont, Nebraska, the daughter of Louis and Katherine (Slobb) Brandert. She grew up and received her education in Fremont, graduating from Fremont High School. On October 20, 1945, she married Kenneth Yarmon in Fremont. Shortly after their marriage, they moved to Biscay, Minnesota and later to Lake Lillian, Minnesota. Lois and Kenneth divorced in 1971. In 1977, Lois moved to Atwater. She worked as a bookkeeper for the Lake Lillian Creamery, the ASC office and Holm Brothers. She later worked for the Atwater Herald newspaper. Lois was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Lake Lillian, where she was active with the Ladies Aid, taught Sunday school and sang in trio. She was also a charter member of the Lois Club and a member of the Red Hat Society. Lois enjoyed traveling, crossword puzzles, reading and going out to eat with her friends. She also enjoyed needle-work and knitting and knitted an Afghan for each of her grandchildren.
She is survived by three children, Kathie (and Eugene) Faiman of Olivia, Stan (and JoAnn) Yarmon of Paynesville and Pete (and Jane) Yarmon of Sartell; 12 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Lawrence Brandert; a sister, Dorothy Boll and a grandson, Jon Yarmon.
