Lola Schueler

June 10, 1909 — July 18, 2016

Lola Schueler, age 107, of Willmar, formerly of the Raymond area, died Monday evening, July 18, at Rice Care Center in Willmar.
Funeral service will be held at 1 PM, Saturday, July 23, at St. John's Lutheran Church in Raymond. The interment will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from noon until time of service at the church. Arrangements are with Peterson Brothers Funeral Home in Willmar. (www.petersonbrothers.com)
Lola Carolina (Strus) Schueler was born on June 10, 1909 in Shumway, Illinois, the daughter of Emma (Laue) and August Strus. She was baptized in the Lutheran faith in Shumway, Illinois. The family moved to Charles City, Iowa, when she was 4 years old and there she received her education. When Lola was 15 they moved to a farm in the Raymond, Minnesota area. She lived in Minneapolis for 1 year doing house work and served as a maid. On May 26, 1928, she was confirmed at St. John's Lutheran Church. On October 5, 1928 she was married to Paul Reinhold Schueler at St. John's Lutheran Church and they made their home on a farm near Raymond where they farmed and raised a family. Lola was a 29 year breast cancer survivor. She was an active member of the church and the women's groups. Lola enjoyed gardening, caring for her chickens, canning fruits and vegetables, cooking and baking. She loved being with family, the gathering of her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren brightened her day.
She is survived by four sons; Elery (and Marlene) Schueler of Willmar, Luverne and (Veronica) Schueler of Kandiyohi, Norman (and Carol) Schueler of Willmar and Harry (and Elaine) Schueler of Willmar. Also surviving are 14 grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren and 7 great great grandchildren, besides other relatives and friends.
Lola was preceded in death by her parents, husband Paul in 1987, one great grandson, Stephen Reynolds, three brothers; George, Herman and Harry Strus and three sisters; Ella Jones, Laura Cross and Bertha Clingman
