Lorraine B. Hegle, age 92, of Willmar, formerly of Minneapolis, died Friday morning, September 19, at Bethesda Pleasant View Nursing Home in Willmar.
Memorial services will at held at 11 AM, Monday, September 29, at First Baptist Church in Willmar. Interment will be at a later date at Ft. Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis. Lorraine Beatrice (Peterson) Hegle was born on September 25, 1921, the daughter of Helen (Judin) and Eric Peterson. She grew up in Minneapolis. Lorraine graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1939 and worked for Minneapolis Moline until her marriage. On June 22, 1943, she was married to Lennard Glen Hegle at the Lakeside Baptist Church in Oakland, California. Lennard was in the service and Lorraine worked at an airplane factory in California during the war. They returned to Minnesota following his service and made their home only a block from her childhood home in Minneapolis. She went to work for Hennepin County and worked for the Hennepin County Treasurer until her retirement in 1983. She was a long time member of Minnehaha Baptist Church and later they attend the Ft. Snelling Chapel. They loved being with family and friends and enjoyed traveling, camping, flower gardening and animals. Lorraine was known as the neighborhood "Grandma" taking care of the children and also the pets. She moved to the Bethesda Homes in Willmar in February of 2013, where she has resided since.
She is survived by three daughters, Sue (and Bob) Peters of Tacoma, Washington, Anne (and Ralph) Littlefield of Palermo, Maine and Jane (and Terry) Karlsgodt of Atwater. Also surviving are five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and one sister, June Fasteen of Louisville, Kentucky; besides other relatives and friends.
Lorraine was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Lennard in 2008; three brothers, Comfort, William and Morgan Peterson; and one sister, Maureen Peterson.
