Lorvin E. Urban, age 92, of Atwater, died Wednesday morning, March 30, at Sunny View Assisted Living in Atwater.
Services will be 1:30 P.M., Saturday, April 2, at St. John Lutheran Church in rural Atwater. The interment will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be 5-8 P.M. Friday at the Peterson Brothers Atwater Funeral Home and at the church one hour prior to the service.
Lorvin Ernst Urban was born on August 14, 1918 in Hazel, South Dakota, the son of Alma and Conrad Urban. He was baptized in Grover, South Dakota, grew up in the Raymond area and was confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church in Raymond. On October 1, 1944, he was married to Adeline Toensing at St. John Lutheran in Atwater and they farmed in the Raymond area. They later moved to the Atwater area where Lorvin farmed and worked as a telephone line repairman for the Atwater Telephone and Exchange for 30 years. He also operated a building demolition and reclaimed lumber business for several years. Lorvin retired from farming in 1979 and they moved to Grove City. Adeline passed away in 1988. Lorvin later moved to the Lincoln Apartments in Litchfield and most recently resided at Sunny View Assisted Living in Atwater. He had been an active member at St. John Lutheran Church where he served as a trustee and was a member of the Lutheran Laymen's League .
He is survived by his children: Lloyd Urban of Farmington and Doris Woods of Grove City; two grandchildren,: James (and Taryn) Woods and Tawnia (and Dario) Lara; a step-granddaughter: Shari Borlaug; six great-grandchildren, two step-great-grandchildren; a brother; Donald (and Albertha) Urban of Raymond; several nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; a daughter-in-law : Anita; and a brother: Emil.
